Irish Ferries is the Republic of Ireland's flagship ferry operator. Its core route is Holyhead-Dublin, served by the giant cruise ferry Ulysses and, seasonally, the Dublin Swift fast craft that cuts the crossing to around two hours. From west Wales it runs Pembroke-Rosslare into the south-east of Ireland, and in recent years it has expanded onto the Channel with a Dover-Calais service competing with P&O and DFDS. Irish Ferries also operates longer routes from Ireland to France. Its ships carry cars, motorhomes, coaches and foot passengers, with club-class lounges and cabins on the longer sailings. Fares are charged per vehicle plus passengers, and advance booking is strongly recommended in summer.
The seasonal Dublin Swift fast craft does Holyhead-Dublin in about two hours. The conventional Ulysses takes around three hours fifteen minutes.
