P&O Ferries is Britain's best-known ferry company and the biggest by passenger numbers on the short Channel crossing. From Dover it runs the flagship Dover-Calais route with its 'Spirit'-class ships, sailing roughly every 45 to 90 minutes through the day. In Scotland it operates the two-hour Cairnryan-Larne crossing to Northern Ireland, and from the Humber its overnight Pride of Hull and Pride of Rotterdam superferries sail nightly to Rotterdam Europoort with cabins, restaurants and bars. P&O carries cars, motorhomes, motorcycles, coaches and foot passengers on its accompanied routes, though foot passengers are not carried on Dover-Calais. Tickets are sold per vehicle plus passengers, and booking ahead almost always beats the gate price.
