Ardrossan to Brodick is the main ferry to the Isle of Arran, CalMac's busy crossing from the Ayrshire coast taking around 55 minutes across the Firth of Clyde. Arran is often called 'Scotland in miniature' for the way its mountains, glens, beaches and gentle south combine the best of the Highlands and Lowlands on one island, and Brodick is its main village, set beneath the peak of Goatfell. The ferry carries cars, motorhomes, bikes and foot passengers, with several sailings a day, and Ardrossan has a railway station beside the terminal with connections from Glasgow. Vehicle space on this popular route fills up in summer, so booking ahead is wise, while foot passengers can usually turn up. It is the quickest and most direct way to reach Arran with a car.
